ULI Philippines YLG: Campus Sustainability Walk – Ateneo De Manila University

ULI Philippines YLG: Campus Sustainability Walk – Ateneo De Manila University

Campus Overview

The Ateneo de Manila University Campus has been known to be a living laboratory for the community to enjoy. Having green spaces, environmental management initiatives, and sustainable facilities, the university demonstrates principles of ecology, biodiversity, nutrient and matter recycling, and waste management. One of the three walking tours of the Ateneo de Manila’s Loyola Heights Campus is called Sustainability walk. This walk features the different facilities in the campus that help protect campus ecology and manage material and waste flows within campus responsibly. These include wastewater treatment systems, rainwater collection systems, materials recovery facilities, and sustainable mobility initiatives, among others.

Coming from these initiatives, the campus has been recognized by the DENR in its “National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools.” The Ateneo gained its championship in the National Capital Region – College level in 2011 and again in 2013.
