Who are your top bets this year? The much-awaited UAAP Season 87 Cheerdance Competition is set to ignite the school spirit among students, alumni, and cheerdance fans as they anticipate which team will take home the crown.
Defending champions, the FEU Cheering Squad, are aiming for a back-to-back win with a Frozen-inspired routine. Last season, they wowed the crowd and judges with their Super Mario-themed performance, earning them the top spot.
Meanwhile, last year’s second placers, the National U Pep Squad from National University (NU), are determined to reclaim their title with an out-of-this-world, outer space-inspired performance. On the other hand, the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, who finished third last year, is on a mission to secure their ninth championship with a nostalgic 90s-inspired routine.
Here is the order of performances, as released by the UAAP in early November:
- Ateneo
- UE
- UST
- Adamson
- UP
- NU
- DLSU
- FEU
The competition will feature eight judges, four focusing on the cheer elements and the other four evaluating the dance components.
Founded in 1994, The UAAP Cheerdance Competition is an annual one-day collegiate event organized by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. In the main cheer dance competition, both the University of the Philippines (UP) and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) hold the record for the most wins, tied at eight championships each.
Cheer for your bets as the highly-anticipated UAAP Season 87 Cheerdance Competition will take center stage on December 1 at 2:00 PM at the Mall of Asia Arena.
