On June 28, ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime” formally signed a contract with GMA’s Good Television (GTV). This means that “It’s Showtime” will officially be aired on GTV, formerly known as GMA News TV, starting July 1 at 11:30 am!
The contract signing was led by the executives of both networks namely, GMA Network’s chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon; GMA Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide and Support Group, and GMA Films President and CEO Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes; GMA President and COO Jimmy Duavit Jr.; and GMA Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong; as well as ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak; ABS-CBN Chairman Mark L. Lopez; ABS-CBN COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes; and ABS-CBN Officer-in-Charge of Finance Group Paul Piedad.

During the GMA chairman and CEO’s speech, Atty. Gozon declared, “Siguro pwede na natin sabihin ngayon–without any fear of contradiction–na ‘yung competition, ‘yung tinatawag ng mga media practitioners na ‘TV war,’ is finally over.“ This statement marks a historic event in the media industry.
The opposing forces in the so-called war in Philippine television are media giants GMA and ABS-CBN who supposedly fought for the top spot in national ratings for decades. “At ang talagang makikinabang nito ay, of course, ang mga manunuod,” he continued.
“Gusto kong sabihin sa pagkakataong ito, kung hindi ko pa nasasabi before, na malugod naming tinatanggap ang popular program na ‘It’s Showtime’,” Gozon went on, “at ang mga magagandang, maraming talents na bumubuo nito, na pinangungunahan ni Vice Ganda.“

The noontime show’s hosts–Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Jhong Hilario, Kim Chiu, Amy Perez, Ogie Alcasid, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Ryan Bang, Ion Perez, MC, Lassy, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez–were also present at the event which took place at SEDA Vertis North, Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon.
Starting next week, “It’s Showtime” will air on GTV every Monday to Saturday at 12 noon.
