I have a question, everyone. Where do these truck drivers or rude drivers get their licenses? And why do we always have to wait for something ridiculous to happen before we act on it? From what I’ve heard, these truck drivers get a different class license and are considered “Professional Drivers.” Unfortunately, this truck driver took a single mom’s life while she was just walking her bike in the bike lane.

The victim was identified as Lorelie Cruz Melevo, who died on the spot after she got ran over by a truck driven by Jonathan Silverio, GMA Network News reported. The incident happened along Mayor Gil Fernando Street, at around 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
The report further stated that the victim was indeed in the bike lane in Marikina City when she got hit by the suspect. Apparently, the suspect claimed that he didn’t notice the cyclist. (What was he doing in the bike lane anyway?).
Moreover, head of Marikina police’s traffic division, Insp. Sanny Cortez confirmed that the suspect, who got detained at the Marikina City Police Station has been charged with a criminal complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
As said by the “We Like Bike Lanes in RP Movement” there has been a total of 196 cyclists who died in the past 10 years.
I feel really bad for her children. Our condolences to the bereaved family.
Take care, everyone.

Changed the law. Mas gusto patayin ng mga truck drivers mga nasagasaan nila kesa buhayin. Mas malaki kasi danyos kapag buhay pa. Ipa2hospital mo pa.etc2 while kung patay na. Bayad lang pang libing
i pray her kids will be surrounded with love every corner, every minute, every day of their lives. :_(
I really felt so sad about this accident .. And this lady , i’ve heard that she normally bring her kids to school with that bike since its a little bit far walk from their home and if you lived in marikina and you know Mt.Gregory , there is no other way to go to her kids school San Roque Elementary School but to cross and pass that gil fernando st . Former tuazon .. It is a busy hiway and i dont know if they do have pedestrian lane .. So now the mother is gone and the kids will still pass and go to that street as they go to their school , im thinking paano na ? Kung ganyan din at may mga taong walang desiplina at walang pakialam sa mga taong dumadaan ..
VERY FEW drivers know how to legally drive in the Philippines. Driver’s, Professional or nonprofessional, are all ignorant of most of the basic rules of the road. (Most applicants payoff someone to pass the written test). Most law enforcers do not know what the rules are. For example, Just the simple 4 way stop sign intersection, drivers in the Philippines do not know how to legally execute this manuver, Drivers in the Philippines amplify the fact that the Philippines is a disorderly nation by how they behave behind the wheel! No quick fix for this!
