Traveling to Macau Soon? Here Are The Things You Can Do In Macau For Free

Experience Macau for free!

Yes, you read it right! There are a lot of things that you can do in Macau for free and believe me, you will save a lot on your trip. My last visit to Macau was actually my third time already, but it was my first time to go there without my family. A lot of things have changed. I didn’t even recognize it the moment the airplane landed.

Macau – The Vegas of Asia

Macau is known to be the “Vegas of Asia”, obviously because there are a lot of casinos there. It is just a small country, so you could probably see the whole country in just a week or two. Despite its size though, there are a lot of activities that you can do there, many of which are for FREE. Below are the things I did for free in Macau together with my friend from Travel with Bes.

5. Go hotel-casino hopping.

The hotels and casinos in Macau offer free shuttle rides to and from the airport, ferry terminal, and other hotels and casinos. You can do a hotel-casino hopping in one day. Some hotel-casinos would need you to take shuttle transfers to get to, but others are just close to each other, so you could just walk from one to another. We didn’t worry about the heat because it was winter time during our visit so it was sunny yet cold and breezy.

Can I visit the hotel/casino even if I’m not going to play or check-in?

Yes, you can as long as you are not a minor. Because there are some hotel-casinos that don’t allow minors to enter the premises. I’ve actually encountered that before.

4. Taste the local food.

When you visit Macau, you must taste the following local delicacies: the beef jerky, egg tart, peanut bar and almond cookies. These are the most sought-after food and pasalubong in Macau, so you better not miss it. Plus, you can taste it for free!! Visit San Malo also known as Senado Square and you can find a lot of these in the area. Every store offers a free taste and some even give a big portion. So, if you are hungry and up for a food trip, visit San Malo.

3. Ride a cable car.

Did you know that each hotel-casino has something interesting to offer? Some are shows while some are fun activities that are free or paid. Upon arriving in Wynn Palace, what caught our attention is the cable car ride. And yes, you can try this cable car ride for free (one way only)! Yay! It will actually drop you off at the hotel’s entrance and you can view some of their amenities such as pool area from the cable car.

2. See the European-themed architecture of Macau.

If you are looking for OOTD-worthy or Instagram-worthy spots, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf is the best place to visit. You can see wonderful European-themed architectures that are perfect for pictures. Plus, it doesn’t have an entrance fee so you can go there and stroll for free!

1. Visit their famous tourist attractions.

Aside from hotel-casinos, Macau also has tourist attractions that are visited by many. Some of which are the Macau Tower, The Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral, and San Malo. You can visit these tourist attractions for free! Some of them can be visited through hotel shuttles while some might need a local bus ride.
