Traveling to Bohol With Your Barkada? Check Out This Bali-Inspired Bar and Villa

Planning a summer getaway with your barkada? While everyone is booking a trip to Boracay, my friends and I opted to go to Bohol. Unlike the resort island known for nightlife experiences, Bohol is a more laid-back tourist destination. Since we wanted to slow things down a bit and catch up after spending a fast-paced lifestyle and busy days in Manila during the pandemic, we deemed Panglao as the best choice to do so. There, the white sand beaches were less crowded and the flights were cheaper. 😉

As for accommodation, we all agreed that this Bali-inspired bar and villa is a great place to settle in! It’s a new resort on the island of Panglao that’s only approximately 11 minutes from the airport and one kilometer away from Doljo beach. As beautiful as it was in the photos, Bassa Bar and Villa offered us a chill nightcap after our flight and tour with their bar and pulutan selection, as well as a spacious room that’s big enough for the four of us to recharge and prepare for the next day’s itinerary!

We enjoyed having drinks at the bar with live music while catching up on each other’s lives. It was also nice to know that we can doze off anytime because our room was a few steps away and we could take a hot shower after a long day. In the morning, the bar turns into a restaurant where you can have lunch, coffee, and even check some emails because they are located on the even quieter side of Bohol. They also offer free breakfast so we didn’t have to worry about filling up before going on a tour!

If you want a beachfront dining experience though, Lotus Storm is the place to be! It is located at the Moadto Strip Mall which offers a nice scenic view of the Doljo beach, just 4 minutes away from Bassa. No, we are not mistaken–this Asian fusion restaurant in Boracay now has a branch in Bohol!

Among the many wonderful dishes they offer, my personal favorite is their Beef Salpicao–tender juicy beef tenderloin paired with purple sweet potato topped with a poached egg. Its sweetness and umami taste are perfectly combined together and create an explosion of flavor in your mouth! Even though it’s a healthy dish that’s perfect for those who are conscious of their diet, it was very satisfying. Plus, the place also offers a variety of cocktails if you prefer your drinking sessions by the beach. 😉
