Travel Diaries: 4 Days of My Puerto Princesa Adventure

DAY 3

We woke up for the third day feeling quite sad, knowing that it’s our last whole day in Ai World and in Puerto Princesa. But there wasn’t time to be gloomy so we went on for the day. Of course, the day became instantly brighter with Ai’s breakfast.

Our itineraries for the third day were mostly around the town proper. We went out and bought hopia at Baker’s Hill, tried halo-halo and mais con hielo at Nokinocs and got pasalubong at the Pasalubong center, plus danggit at a local market for our dear ones waiting when we get back to Manila.

We wouldn’t leave Baker’s Hill without exploring the place, of course.

Nokinocs’ halo-halo and Mais con hielo sure are, like what their tagline says, babalik-balikan! It didn’t fail to charm my taste buds. I could eat three of them in one day. Maybe four?

Then, we went to buy pasalubong items from the Pasalubong Center and the town-favorite danggit from the market. Brush up your haggling skills ‘cause they might come in handy.

After the shopping spree, we headed to VietVille for a gastronomic trip to Vietnam.

When we finished our food and drove back to the resort, it occurred to me that it’s already our last day at this paradise. We wasted no time and enjoyed the best of it. We swam by the Panorama Lake Pool while the sun was about to set, and it was a sight to behold. We had fun pretending to be mermaids and redoing scenes from The Little Mermaid, but of course, the day had to end.

DAY 4

We didn’t sleep long and well enough because we had to pack and we knew we were about to leave an amazing place. At around 6 AM, we had breakfast, gave our deep appreciation to the owners and staff for the unforgettable experience, and was greeted with this view before leaving:

Such a sight to behold. They dropped us at the airport and bid our last farewell, but I promised to be back.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Ai World will be a must-visit soon. I mean, it already is, but their plans for the coming years will totally pull you there. They have superb service, quality international and local food, amazing pools, great staff and genuine care. Ask one of the staffs their story, and you’ll have lots to talk about! There are a lot of resorts here, but there’s no water and flower park like Ai World. Besides Ai World, the owners have a lot of plans in the future including a modern, Japanese-inspired resort named “Shojin Resorts” that will be just near Ai World and “Casa Blanca del Amor Resort” that will be modeled after Greece’s Santorini and will be overlooking the Nagtabon Beach. I can’t wait to see these resorts! Having Ai World in Palawan surely adds more reason to why Palawan is the world’s best island.
