Transform your mind and body by mastering your inner flow

Working towards a better version of yourself is usually associated to the physical aspects. When people think of a “glow up,” they think of working out and eating healthier to get the desired transformation.

While a part of this transformation is changing physically, there is also a mental aspect to it. When working towards a better version of yourself, you need to focus on all parts of yourself.

This is what I learned when I attended one of the Project PHOssible masterclasses by Pretty Huge Obstacles. Aside from giving fitness and nutrition seminars, the program is designed to address and touch base on mental health.

During the session, the speaker, Chubi Del Rosario, talked about the “flow state.”  According to him, the flow state is our optimal state of being. It’s when we feel like our best self. The flow state can also be called “performing at our peak potential.”

When one gets into the flow state, they get a sense of clarity and timelessness. They also increase their productivity and enjoyment. The flow state eliminates lack of motivation, procrastination, low self-esteem, and negative thoughts.

The flow state is something that originates from the brain. There is a science behind it. During the flow state level, there are five chemicals released that help change the person’s mood and make it better.

Endorphins, dopamine, norepinephrine, anandamide, and serotonin are released in the brain, depending on the person’s flow state level.

So how can someone get into this flow state? According to Chubi, there are three keys to experiencing it. The first is to have a goal. It is important to work on progressive and incremental changes. Focus on the journey, not the destination.

Second, develop habits that help you achieve your goal. For example, if you’re trying to eat healthier, the simple practice of mindful eating can help you reach your goal.

Lastly, to get into the flow state, one must practice. Things like affirmations, meditations, and keeping a gratitude journal can all help you achieve the flow state. Simply take action on your goals and just do it.
