‘Train To Busan’ director works on new horror series

Netflix partners with Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho for a new Korean horror series. The series will be called Hellbound, based on the Korean webtoon Hell.

According to Netflix, the Hellbound synopsis is about “supernatural beings appear out of nowhere to condemn people to hell. It doesn’t matter whether these events are a blessing or a curse: a new religious group is interpreting them all as the will of the divine.”

This series will also be a collaborative work director Yeon Sang-ho and illustrator Choi Gyu-seok. Choi Gyu-seok is the author of Songgot, a webtoon that was adapted as a television drama in 2015. Choi is expected to exhibit his insight into social issues the way he did in Songgot.

Yeon Sang-ho is also currently working on Peninsula, the sequel to the first Train to Busan movie, which is set to be released in the coming months.
