“Dear God, please make them be nice to him.” Julia Roberts, who plays as the mother, Isabel Pullman, says as her son walks towards his first day in school. Ever. She and her husband Nate, played by Owen Wilson, watch with a worried look on their faces.
Their son, Auggie Pullman, is about to enter 5th grade, but he’s never been to an actual school before. Why? The film’s synopsis tells the story:
August “Auggie” Pullman is a young boy born with a facial difference who has been in and out of hospitals for years. With the help of his mother, Isabel and his father, Nate, he tries to fit in at a new school named Beecher Prep and shows everyone that he is just an ordinary kid, no different than the rest of the world. He strives to teach others that beauty is not just on the outside.

Wonder is based on the 2012 novel by R.J. Palacio of the same name. The film will come out in theaters on November 2017.
