Tom Rodriguez had a brief but straightforward response when asked about his ex-wife Carla Abellana’s recent engagement to her non-showbiz partner.
During the media conference for his upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry UnMarry, the actor learned that Carla had already confirmed the engagement. When pressed for his reaction, Tom kept things simple.

“I wish her well, I wish them well,” he said. “Everyone deserves happiness, and we all deserve to move on, and I’m glad we’re all moving on.”
Tom also shared that he’s currently focused on his own family. The actor, who previously finalized his divorce from Carla through Philippine court recognition last year, has since welcomed a son with his non-showbiz partner.
Carla and Tom married in 2021, then went through a much-publicized separation months later.
UnMarry—Tom’s newest film and one of the entries to the 51st MMFF—centers on a couple navigating the end of their marriage through annulment.
The movie marks Angelica Panganiban’s return to the big screen after four years and also stars Zanjoe Marudo, Solenn Heussaff, Eugene Domingo, and Shamaine Buencamino.
Carla, meanwhile, is also part of this year’s MMFF lineup. She appears in Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins, a new installment of the long-running horror franchise.
Both UnMarry and Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins will be showing in cinemas beginning December 25, 2025.
