There was a time when Twitter parody accounts were really popular. There was @TitasOfManila, which parodied the old-fashioned and quaint ways of our favorite aunts, @GFsOfManila, which poked fun of the clingy ways of our loving girlfriends, and @ClientsOfManila, which satired the “demanding” ways of clients. Some of them were funny, but the X of Y parody trend exploded and some were not as funny as the originals.
We made a new discovery today: it’s called @TitosOfDubai, a parody account of fathers working as OFWs in Dubai. We wouldn’t really want to call it a parody, since it’s the most heartwarming thing we’ve seen today. Its bio reads “Expert in Construction, loving FATHER. Isang tweet kada lunch break.” (One tweet per lunch break), and it has posted one good tweet after another since September 26.
The account is still active and the latest tweets are related to Christmas. If you have a father or a relative working abroad and who won’t be able to come home this Christmas, we’re sure you’ll be able to relate. Here are our favorite tweets:
