With its glitchy production, plucky adlibs, and hypnotic synths, “body (i want you)” shows how rouri404 is reshaping the soundscape of modern electronic music. While the production leans into EDM influences reminiscent of Skrillex, the emotion-packed delivery and layered sound design also place him in the same sonic lane as 2hollis and ISOxo.
But this isn’t just about catchy beats. Lyrically, rouri404 goes deep. The song explores the struggle of self-acceptance and learning to embrace both one’s flaws and areas for growth.
Opening up about the inspiration behind the track, rouri404 shares:
“After getting sober in 2020, I began experiencing anxiety and stress-related seizures… I felt like I had no control, like something could possess me at any moment, and I’d be completely powerless. For a long time, I blamed myself.”
Over time, however, he reframed his journey:
“I’ve come to believe that all my flaws, for better or worse, have shaped who I am. They are still part of the story… ‘body’ is my attempt to move through all of that, to sit with those thoughts and feelings as honestly and openly as I can.”
A new chapter for rouri404
The single marks the start of a new creative era for the Orlando-native-turned-Los Angeles artist. Since making the move across the country earlier this year, rouri404 has been refining his sound and expanding his artistry.
Fans of his earlier releases—like the GORE EP (2022)—will still recognize the raw vocals and experimental edge, but this latest project hints at even bigger things ahead.
Who is rouri404?
Born Joseph “Joey” Cash, rouri404’s journey is one of resilience. Dropping out of high school at 16 and battling substances early on, music became both his escape and his lifeline. What started in SoundCloud waveforms eventually evolved into a distinct sound that blends hyperpop, emo, and electronic music.
His inspirations are as eclectic as his music—citing Bones and Daft Punk as his “guardian angels.” This duality between raw output and polished aesthetics continues to shape his artistry today.
For rouri404, music isn’t just an expression. It’s a connection. He speaks to the misunderstood teens, the aspiring lyricists, and the music lovers searching for something permanent in a disposable world.
With “body (i want you)” setting the tone, 2025 looks to be a breakout year for rouri404. Fans can expect more music, more evolution, and more reasons to keep watching this rising artist carve out his own lane.
