The powerful and talented cast of the 50 Shades, The Musical Parody has been finally introduced to the media last Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Featured in the company is a mix of international Thespians, including performers from the Off-Broadway and Las Vegas productions of 50 Shades! The Musical Parody. Leading the foreign artists are Brenna Wahl, Greg Kata, Chloe Williamson, Kaitlyn Frotton, Chris Hodgson, Casey Renee Rogers, and Isaac Saleh. Al Samuels, who co-wrote and directed the off-Broadway, UK and US tour productions of the musical, will also direct the Manila production.
The musical director proudly said “it’s so exciting to develop the Filipino version of 50 Shades!, working with many of the actors I have already worked within the US, but now also with a whole host of great Filipino stars,” said Samuels, “I think this combination will make for a great production, one that builds on the success the show has enjoyed around the world, but also with an awesome Pinoy flair.”
The play also showcased our seasoned Filipino theater stars Bituin Escalante, Karel Marquez, Lorenz Martinez, George Schulze, and Julz Savard.
As we all know, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” is one of the most controversial movies released in 2015. In fact, Google Philippines has recently released the titles of the Most Searched about Movies in the past year. It was a varied mix of local rom coms and awaited franchise installments, but only one movie came out on top.
Surprise, surprise! The most searched about movie of 2015 is no other than Fifty Shades of Grey.
With the book gathering so much attention, it is no wonder that the movie adaptation swept the box office in a snap. Since the release of the trailer in 2014, the movie has gotten the attention of moms, professionals, feminists and even BDSM practitioners!
So, the story about 50 Shades! The Musical Parody opens with a trio of girlfriends setting aside staid book club fare in favor of a sexier sort of page-turner.
I personally watched the snippet of the show and it was absolutely hilarious!
Interest piqued, they devour the novel while the delicious affair of Anastasia and Christian comes to life! The musical is an uproarious roller coaster ride through this unlikely bestseller. The show features a sassy original score with musical influences ranging from traditional musical theater to R&B to Gilbert and Sullivan, including the provocative ‘I Don’t Make Love…’ and ‘There’s a Hole Inside of Me.’
Rest assured that this steamy and hilarious, the musical will definitely be a sexy treat to the Filipino audience.
