This BTS ARMY power move is why we love K-Pop fans

Fans of the popular K-pop group BTS matched the boyband’s $1 million donation to the Black Lives Matter movement. The donation is in support of the protests against police brutality and systemic racism towards black people.

Last week, the K-pop group tweeted in solidarity with all the protests going on. They wrote, “We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together.”

The group’s music label, Big Hit Entertainment, revealed that BTS had donated $1 million to BLM. With this, the hashtag #MatchAMillion went viral on Twitter, encouraging fans to donate to the movement and match the group’s donation.

Within the first 24 hours, fans have raised over $817,000. One In An ARMY (OIAA), the group that headed the donation drive said, “We stand in solidarity with black ARMY. They’re an important part of our family. And we stand with black people everywhere. Your voices deserve to be heard.”

Last Monday, the campaign has already raised $1,007,518 and the organizers said it will continue indefinitely.
