The University of the Philippines Is Set to Have Its Own Channel on Cignal TV

The University of the Philippines announced on Friday, June 24, that it will have its very own channel on Cignal TV. The UP channel will be made available to more than four million homes via Cignal TV’s satellite direct-to-home service.

The state university will be broadcasting its video productions on the channel 24/7, with programs including The Platform; Science Innovations; NOAH Updates; Maikling Pelikula; Kultura, Sining, Atbp.; DRRM; the Documentaries: The Filipino series; Kalusugan at Karapatan; Batas at Bayan; Gender Talks; Financial Sense; Health Issues; and many more.

“Our friends from Cignal TV recognize the value of our work and our goal to extend our services to as many as possible, whether these are students looking to enrich their lessons or ordinary citizens who wish to gain more knowledge and develop skills,” UP President Danilo Concepcion said after signing the memorandum of agreement between UP and Cignal TV.

“What we have now is the perfect opportunity to nurture lifelong learning in our people,” he adds.

Cignal TV President and CEO Robert Galang also stated, “This partnership allows us to expand our offerings to our more than 4.1 million subscribers and introduce distance learners to a new way of experiencing remote learning.”
