October is full of nights out with friends and family due to events such as Oktoberfest, and Halloween. The month marked by smiles and laughs is also shared with a few noble causes, most notably breast cancer awareness.
The Pink Run 2014
Studies show that when compared to other types of cancer, breast cancer has claimed more lives than any other in the Philippines. Affecting women, and even men, awareness of the dreadful disease is crucial in detecting the cancer early to improve chances of survival.
In order to help educate more people and lead the fight against breast cancer, the Philippine Society of General Surgeons’ will be hosting their annual “Pink Run” in McKinley Hills on October 5.
Interested runners will be able to choose from 3KM and 5KM for a registration fee of P600, and 10KM and 16KM for a registration fee of P700.
Proceeds from the run will be given to indigent breast cancer patients to aid in paying for their treatment. Free breast exams will be conducted on the day of the run as well.
On September 27 and September 28 from 11am-3pm only, registered participants will furthermore be eligible to a 10% discount at the Under Armour store located in Bonifacio High Street. In order to avail of the discount, the runner only needs to present his “Pink Run” race bib to the Under Armour store personnel.
