Disney is on a full-force mission to revive its classics, and it isn’t leaving any movie behind.
With the Emma Watson-starred “Beauty and the Beast” film slated to come out in early 2017 with much anticipation, The Lion King, one of Walt Disney’s most massive hits, is also being remade into a contemporary, live-action film!
Director Jon Favreau is once again being tapped to helm this exciting project, following the success of “The Jungle Book” live-action adaptation this year, whichย earned $965.8 million worldwide.
The Walt Disney Company website said:
We can officially confirm that The Walt Disney Studios and director Jon Favreau are putting a new reimagining of The Lion King on the fast track to production.
As one of the biggest animated films of all time, The Lion King has gone on to receive multiple awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” by Elton John, and for Best Original Score by Hans Zimmer, as well as two Grammy Awards.
Needless to say, as Disney kids, we are so excited!
