The project was first teased at last year’s CinemaCon, where director Sam Mendes described it as an opportunity to explore the Beatles’ story in more depth. “We’re not just making one film about the Beatles — we’re making four,” he said.
The Beatles are among the best-selling music acts of all time, and these films join a recent wave of music-focused movies, including Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere and an upcoming Michael Jackson biopic.

In a playful nod to the band’s Liverpool roots, postcards featuring each actor were hidden around the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, giving students the chance to discover them. “We’ve hidden them around LIPA, and we want students to find them,” the school’s Instagram post said.
