‘The Dragon Prince’ saga continues with 4 more seasons

Fantasy-adventure animated series The Dragon Prince has officially been renewed for a 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th season by Netflix. The 4 additional seasons will allow co-creators Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond to wrap up the story as they always planned.

(‘Dragon’s Dogma’ anime adaptation will soon premiere on Netflix)

The good news was announced during the Comic-Con @ Home 2020 ‘Zoom Into Xadia’ panel, much to the happy surprise of the voice cast.

While the details on future plans for the fantasy world were sparse, we can assume the saga will build on season 3’s cliffhanger centered around Viren, Claudia, and Aaravos. Ehasz and Richmond did reveal that the upcoming seasons will be grouped by 2 batches or ‘books’, with 2 seasons per book.

Following the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd books being titled ‘Moon’, ‘Sun’, and ‘Sky’ respectively, the 4th book will be titled ‘Earth’. Each season will have 9 episodes with pre-production already having started for the next one.

The Dragon Prince follows 3 children – Callum, Ezran, and Rayla – as they navigate a world where humans are at war with magical creatures. Their journey begins when fate hands them the role of seeing a dragon egg home safely.
