It’s always hard to find the perfect date or meeting restaurant in Makati. With the hustle and bustle in the Central Business District, you wouldn’t actually believe you can find a quiet restaurant that offers food like no other.
Tapenade is probably the Best Mediterranean restaurant in Makati. It offers delicious food, has a great ambiance and provides impeccable service.
Tapenade, located at the ground floor of Discovery Primea, is just across Glorietta and along Ayala Avenue.
The restaurant has an indoor dining area, an exclusive room and an al fresco area. You will be automatically impressed as soon as you enter Tapenade because of its beautiful interiors. The marble tables and the striped seats match perfectly with the walls and curtains that surround the restaurant. The front side of the restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows, which allow natural light to come into the dining area.
My attention was automatically caught by the artwork on the wall of Tapenade. It is something you will not miss and it actually piqued our curiosity while eating there.
Stone-Baked Feta Cheese
If you are a fan of cheese, this is something you need to try. I’ve tried different cheeses tossed in olive oil before, but this one was beyond anything I have ever tried. It has tomatoes, capers, Greek Metaxa Brandy and honey. The feta cheese alone is really tasty. It is stone-baked and soaked in olive oil, which makes it sweet and a little bit salty – just the perfect balance to place on top of some crispy bread.
Prosciutto di Parma
There are many customers who just go to Tapenade for the best salad bar in Makati. This is where you can get all the oysters you can eat, plus a variety of bread, cheeses, spreads, meat cuts and other specialty items that Tapenade has. Our personal favorite is the prosciutto di parma.
Oysters, Salmon Gravlax and Cold Salad Mixes
They also have different kinds of breads that you can mix and match with different spreads, like oils and jams.
The cheese selection is also quite nice and varies depending on what they have available. Luckily, they have something new all the time, so feel free to get some to your heart’s content.
If you are a pizza person, Tapenade has a variety of pizzas to suit your fancy. The Speck Pizza is composed of smoked prosciutto, mozzarella and wild arugula.
U.S. Pork Belly “A la Plancha”
A lunch wouldn’t be complete without some tasty pork. Fortunately, this U.S. Pork Belly is something you can pair with a cup of white rice. It has marinated roasted bell peppers, black olives and grilled Spanish peaches, which makes the pork burst with flavors.
Pan-Roasted Snapper Fillet
I love fish and I’ve heard great things about Tapenade’s seafood, so I had to try one out. This Pan-Roasted Snapper Fillet is sometimes a part of their mid-day special. It is pretty tasty when you combine each element in one bite.
Tapenade has different Tagine’s like the chicken, U.S. beef, baby octopus, black cod and lamb. It has exotic flavors, spices and aromas with some slow-cooked meat.
There’s always room for dessert and this Bomboloni is something I can never find anywhere else. These are Italian donuts that are served with passion fruit cream, cherries and ice cream. By the way, their ice cream is to die for, so don’t forget to ask the server for their flavors of the day.
Chocolate lovers unite! The Gianduja Cake is mouthwatering with choco hazelnut, praline and salted caramel bananas. The cake itself is really tender and rich with a nutella-like taste and some crispy bits of salted caramel. The banana provides a bit of freshness to balance out the rich creamy taste.
