Tagalog is Becoming the Fastest-Growing Language in Canada

Did you know that one in five Canadians speak more than one language at home (source: Statistics Canada)? With so many immigrants constantly moving to the country, that really isn’t a surprise.

English and French aside, the top mother tongue in Canada is currently Mandarin with Cantonese coming in second and Punjabi coming in third.

The fastest-growing language in Canada, though, is Tagalog. Apparently, the number of people speaking Tagalog at home in Canada has grown by 35%. This isn’t surprising, either, since Filipinos have been the top source of permanent residents in Canada for years now with 50,000 Filipinos having taken permanent residency in the country in 2015.

How cool is that?
