Superbook Series Revamped!

When in Manila, it’s easy to find a lot of people who have seen and loved their favorite weekend show, Superbook!

You do remember your childhood experience with the Christian program, right? Almost two decades ago, I’d sit right in front of the TV set, enjoying the cool animation and the magical idea that a book can send two kids and a robot back in time.

Don’t you think it would be fun to get your kids to experience the same things you’ve experienced ages ago?

Guess what– What started as an animated Bible series for children in Japan is now a world-class animation production! Since its first airing in Japan, the Superbook series has been broadasted in over 106 countries, translated into 43 languages, and viewed by over a half billion people all over the world.

Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) has just recently revamped the entire franchise to give viewers a one-of-a-kind journey in 3D animation. To keep up with the media-savvy generation, CBN initiated a collaboration with top Hollywood producers, animators, and directors, and used their creative noggins to create a relived, reinvented and reimagined Superbook!

You read that right, kids and kids-at-heart! The phenomenal 1980s animated series is back, and it features a whole new look to appeal to this century’s generation of kids.

I recently got the chance to get a sneak preview of one of the “reimagined” episodes of the classic Superbook series. Boy, was I happy!

The sneak preview happened in the middle of Superbook: Reimagined, a Family Fun Day event committed to bringing parents and their children quality bonding time and an opportunity to preview the new Superbook. Held at Every Nation Building in GBC, the event provided a venue for the new generation to be a part of the long-running Christian program.

The Superbook Project Head in the Philippines, Mr Icko Gonzales, quips, “Our goal is not only to produce a child-friendly program, but more importantly, a child-focused show for this generation to learn from. Superbook aims to capture the hearts of children today. In addition, even the parents will enjoy and learn from it. It’s a perfect bonding activity for families.”

The new version looks a tad bit more intriguing, don’t you think? It kind of reminds me of the 3D animated full-feature films from Pixar and Dreamworks!

It’s high time we relive our childhood and fall in love with Gizmo, Chris and Joy. Become an avid fan of the Superbook TV series once again, When in Manila.
