Star Wars Actress Carrie Fisher Passes Away at 60

Carrie Fisher, an actress who starred in the cult favorite Star Wars series, passed away yesterday (US time) after suffering a heart attack mid-flight. She was 60.

She was on a plane ride from London to Los Angeles when she suffered a heart attack. Anna Akana, another actress, was on the same flight and tweeted updates about it:

 

The brother then announced that she was “out of emergency,” but remained to be in critical condition. Only days later, it was then announced that the actress passed away.

According to family spokesperson Simon Halls, “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher is known for her appearances in Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens, but she has also starred in other films like The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally… Apart from her film roles, Fisher has published semi-autobiographical novels, a screenplay of her novel Postcards From the Edge, a one-woman play, and a non-fiction book.
