Marvel fans, rejoice!
Spidey is joining his friends in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after all!
This was officially announced by Sony Pictures and Disney, as somehow the universe has conspired to make this fortuitous cinematic event happen!
It’s not a joke: Marvel Studios is producing the next Spider-Man movie, which will be released right after “the new Spider-Man” appears in a Marvel film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The announcement is quick to note, however, that “Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films”.
No word yet on whether Andrew Garfield will continue to be Spider-Man, or whether which Marvel movie we will first see him in, following this big reveal. Speculations are heavy, however, that Spidey joining a Marvel film means another re-boot of the franchise.
Some of the things we do know, though:
Sony Pictures will release the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man on July 28, 2017, co-produced by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal.
Marvel and Sony Pictures are also “exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.”
We don’t know about you, but we cannot wait to see Spider-Man fighting side-by-side with Iron Man or Captain America, as well as any of the beloved Marvel superheroes!
Are you excited about Spider-Man being in a Marvel movie? Where do you think his first appearance will be in?
