One sunny September day, I decided to take a break from my usual work and headed to Spiral Buffet Restaurant at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza for lunch. I was led to a room that was surrounded by tall glass windows (Oh, how I love big windows! They are just refreshing, aren’t they?). These windows displayed one of the most magnificent views in Manila — Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s beautiful lagoon pool by the Manila Bay. It was sunny then, so the sun provided pleasant lighting the whole afternoon.
The nice, clean, full-laden tables were filled with wine glasses. Little did I know, my lavish lunch included some wines because Sofitel is celebrating the Wine Festival for the whole month of September!
Before I headed to the buffet table, a well-trained waiter poured some wine and placed a platter of bite sized cheeses on my table. Ooh! Such luxury! I thought. Later, Tanguy Gras, Spiral’s Assistance Operations Manager came by our table to suggest a number of wine pairing combinations – this I should say was the highlight of my whole Spiral experience.
