I’m not sure if you remember this, but back in June 2015, we shared a story of an abused dog roaming around the streets of North Carolina with duct tape around her mouth. Though the news was not local, we felt the importance of sharing it to warn animal abusers that justice will be served! Unfortunately, it seems there are still a lot of people who treat animals as mere objects and pay no respect for their lives. If you want to own a pet, make sure you are able to love and care for it almost the same way as you would love and care for a child. If not, then maybe you’re not ready to own one.
A few days ago, social media pages erupted with screenshots of a woman who duct taped her dog’s mouth shut. According to woman, her dog was noisy and she taped his mouth shut to teach him a lesson.
Katie’s contacts as well as other people on Facebook were not afraid to leave negative comments about her actions. Someone eventually started a petition and reported Katie to the proper authorities.
I find it disturbing that Katie Brown doesn’t see anything wrong with her actions. She continues to justify them and explain how it was just to teach the dog a lesson.
Thankfully, this case has reached authorities and Katie Brown will be charged with animal abuse. According to mashable.com, Katharine F. Lemansky, a.k.a. Katie Brown, was charged on Monday by police in Cary, North Carolina, with one count of Class 1 Misdemeanor Cruelty to Animals over the photo above. She faces 150 days in jail and will appear in court on Dec. 14.
We’re happy that authorities quickly handled this case. If the same thing happened here in the Philippines, we hope it would be handled just as quickly as this.
