Singer-Songwriter Luke Chiang Drops Retro Pop-Soul Track Featuring Filipino-American Musicians

Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter Luke Chiang has released a new single, “what can i do?,” featuring Filipino-American artists Jesse Barrera and Albert Posis.

The track is the second release from Luke’s debut full-length album, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

“what can i do?” combines retro-inspired pop and soul with layered vocal harmonies. The lyrics explore the tension that can arise in relationships and the process of accepting those imperfections.

“It’s about struggling to find the source of unspoken tension in a relationship, but embracing its flaws and all because it’s still your person and you’re a good thing together,” Luke explains.

The collaboration came together spontaneously. Luke co-wrote the track with Barrera and Posis, saying, “Jesse, Albert, and I wrote this song right after working on a folk, singer-songwriter piece with an opposite sound direction. From the first few minutes of hearing them develop the chord progression and drums, I knew it was gonna be something I’ve never done before—uptempo, punchy, and soulful.”

“what can i do?” follows the release of Luke’s lead single “terrible4u,” which appeared on regional streaming playlists in Southeast Asia.

Luke has released earlier tracks such as “May I Ask,” “Paragraphs,” and “Shouldn’t Be.” According to Spotify and Chartmetric, he has over 2.5 million monthly listeners and ranks among the top 100 progressive R&B artists globally. His largest audiences are in Indonesia (#2), the Philippines (#3), Malaysia (#4), Thailand (#6), Taiwan (#8), and Singapore (#10).

The single and its official music video are now available online.
