Set for release this September 25 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC, Silent Hill f is a standalone spin-off that’s already making waves online.

Recently previewed at its world premiere event in Tokyo, the game shifts the franchise’s signature psychological horror into a hauntingly detailed vision of 1960s rural Japan.
The story centers on Hinako, a high school girl who runs away from home… and straight into something far more terrifying.
Players will explore the game through an immersive over-the-shoulder perspective, similar to the Silent Hill 2 remake. As Hinako walks deeper into the eerie forest town of Ebisugaoka, the environment begins to decay.
A thick fog envelops everything. Red spider lilies bloom ominously from the ground. Tentacle-like vines creep through walls.
It’s Silent Hill like you’ve never seen it before — floral, folkloric, and deeply unsettling.

Unlike previous titles, Silent Hill f doesn’t give you a radio or map to guide you. Ebisugaoka is a maze of narrow alleys and vertical paths. There’s no warning when enemies are near, which keeps you on edge with every step.
Combat also takes a new direction. Hinako is not a trained fighter, so no guns here. Instead, you’ll rely on melee weapons like pipes, sickles, and even a naginata. Weapons can break, so you’ll need to manage your loadout.
The game also introduces a Sanity mechanic and Focus Mode, letting you slow time, dodge attacks, and land counters, but at the cost of Hinako’s mental state.

True to the franchise, puzzles make a strong return. Inspired by Japanese culture, they involve items like ema prayer tablets and scarecrows, each puzzle deeply connected to the story and Hinako’s inner struggles, penned by Higurashi creator Ryukishi07.
One standout moment from the demo features a grotesque shrine maiden monster named Sakiko. This boss teleports, drains your Sanity, and forces you to counterattack in tight windows, offering a tense taste of what the game has in store.
With its stunning visuals, layered story, and bold setting, Silent Hill f is shaping up to be a must-play for horror fans this year.
Add this to your horror game watchlist. You won’t want to miss it.
