Philippines’ Mobile Legends Team Claims First Esports Gold In SEA Games 2019

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team of Sibol-Philippines claimed the first-ever esports gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games. They won the event late Sunday night at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Sibol’s ML: BB team beat Indonesia 3-2 in a race to 3 duel. Sibol saw victory first by claiming Game 1 but was later forced to play catch-up when Indonesia won the next 2 games. After coming to a 2-2 draw by Game 4, Sibol put their all into winning the 5th and final game.

The Sibol squad is composed of Kenneth Jiane “Kenji” Villa, Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, Carlito “Ribo” Ribo, Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon, Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel, Allan Sancio “Lusty” Castromayor, and Jason Rafael “Jay” Torculas.

Indonesia’s team consisted of players from the M1 World Championship, the first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang worldwide contest organized by game developers Moonton.

Sibol’s DOTA II and Starcraft II teams play for gold on Monday.
