Get ready to journey to Far Far Away! “Shrek The Musical” is officially making its way to Manila, bringing the world’s favorite ogre and other beloved characters to life on stage.

Newport World Resorts and Full House Theater Company have announced the Philippine production of “Shrek The Musical,” which is scheduled to run from October to December 2025 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
It is under the direction of Michael Williams, assistant direction by Cara Barredo, musical staging by Dexter Santos, choreography by Stephen Viñas, and music direction by Rony Fortich.
For aspiring performers or “Shrek” fans, this is your chance to shine! Auditions for all adult roles in the highly anticipated musical are set to open on March 29 at Meeting Room 1, 3rd floor, Hilton Manila. Registration will be from 9 AM to 12 PM, followed by auditions from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The production is casting for Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, and Lord Farquaad. Other roles include the fiery Dragon, the sassy Gingy, the animated puppet Pinocchio, and the fearsome Wolf. The ensemble will play various fairytale creatures, guards, knights, and more. Strong vocal ability is required for all roles, while select roles also require dance skills.
Applicants need to prepare 32 bars of a song from their preferred musical, accompanied by a minus-one track for playback. Additionally, they must submit their most recent CV, a 3R-sized headshot, a full-body photograph, and a completed registration form.
Rehearsals for “Shrek The Musical” will begin on August 18, from 2 PM to 9 PM, extending to 11 PM during Tech Week. Performances are scheduled from October to December 2025. For inquiries, applicants can send an email to info@fhtcentertainment.com.
“Shrek The Musical” is based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book “Shrek” and the DreamWorks Animation film of the same name.
Featuring music by Jeanine Tesori with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, the musical was originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions in 2008.
