Ruru Madrid has been hospitalized after tearing his hamstring.

In an Instagram post, Ruru detailed how he got injured while taping for the action primetime series Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila.

“Life has a way of testing you when you least expect it. Kahapon, habang nagte-taping para sa (Yesterday, while I was taping for) Lolong, I was giving it my all—full speed—then suddenly, pop. Alam kong may mali (I know something’s wrong). My leg gave out, and I couldn’t continue. Got rushed to the hospital, and the doctor confirmed I pulled my hamstring,” he recalled, remaining hopeful that his injury isn’t a “Grade 3 strain,” which would take him weeks or even months to fully recover.
While the physical pain has been bearable, the actor admitted that the pain of having to stop hurts more.
“Masakit? Oo. Pero mas masakit ‘yung pakiramdam na kailangan kong huminto (Painful? Yes. But what hurts even more is the feeling that I have to stop),” he said. “All I could think about was my team, the scenes we still have to finish, and how much I wanted to push through. But that’s the reality of doing action—sometimes, your body reminds you that you’re only human.
Despite the injury, the 27-year-old actor remains strong-willed and determined.
“Pero hindi ako titigil dito (I won’t stop here). Challenges like this don’t break me—they build me. This is just a pause, not the end. Every setback is a setup for a stronger comeback. I will rise from this—wiser, tougher, and more unstoppable than ever.”
In the post, he also thanked everyone for being there for him, especially his longtime girlfriend, Bianca Umali, who has never left him since the injury: “Mahal @bianxa —salamat dahil hindi mo ako iniwan sa oras na ‘to (Love, thank you for not leaving me during this time). Your presence, love, and support mean everything to me
“Despite everything, I will forever be grateful to God. His plans are always greater than mine, and I trust in His timing and purpose. To God be the glory,” he shared.
“This is just part of the journey. And trust me, I’m coming back stronger. See you soon.”
His Instagram post received an outpour of love and encouraging messages from celebrity friends, fans, and followers. Among the celebrities who wished for the actor’s recovery were Matteo Guidicelli, Max Collins, Shaira Diaz, Juancho Trivino, and Paul Salas, among others.
In January 2024, the Lolong actor was rushed to the emergency room after taping due to persistent illness and exhaustion.

“Babawi po ako sa inyo, Pangako po yan! God bless po at magpapagaling ako agad (I’ll make it up to you, I promise! God bless, and I’ll recover quickly),” he wrote.
Ruru Madrid is an award-winning actor who is best known for his acting performances in Encantadia, Lolong, Black Rider, and the prison drama film Green Bones, where he won Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
