The song dropped on May 9, accompanied by a music video that captures its nostalgic vibe—celebrating life on the road with scenes of Avril and Simple Plan trashing hotel rooms, performing a punk set in an empty pool, and partying on a tour bus.
In “Young and Dumb,” Avril reflects on the carefree early days of her career and how she lived like a rockstar. Simple Plan then takes over in the second verse, fast-forwarding 20 years to the present day, expressing how “somehow it feels like nothing’s changed.”
Prior to the song’s release, the “Sk8ter Boi” hitmaker penned a heartfelt social media post, recounting her friendship with Simple Plan and dedicating the song to their fans who supported them for over two decades.
