Ruffa Gutierrez is starting the year as a student once again. In a recent Instagram post, the 51-year-old actress and former beauty queen shared that she has enrolled in the Master of Arts in Communication Arts program at Philippine Women’s University (PWU), the same school where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2022.

“Feeling inspired to rekindle my passion for learning,” she wrote in a post last December, where she talked about returning to her alma mater and taking on graduate studies. She also reflected on finding meaning in personal projects and reminded her followers that starting over can happen at any stage in life.
Ruffa recently visited PWU’s head office to formally begin her graduate school journey. She shared photos with university officials, including Dean of Education Shirley Padua, Marivic Tirona from the Office of the President, and Ambassador Rosario Manalo, Dean of the HZB School of International Relations & Diplomacy. In her caption, she described the visit as a meaningful moment as she steps into this new chapter.

This isn’t Ruffa’s first return to the classroom after many years. In 2021, she revealed her decision to pursue a college degree again after more than three decades. A year later, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts through PWU’s Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).
At the time, Ruffa shared how important the support system around her was—from the university’s ETEEAP team to her loved ones. She also expressed her commitment to continuous learning, which she says helps her adapt and grow in a changing global landscape. Alongside that message, she announced that she was officially enrolling as an MA student in Communication Arts.
Outside of academics, Ruffa spent the holidays with her family. Her daughters Lorin and Venice, who are based in the US, came home for Christmas. Her father, Eddie Gutierrez, also recently returned from Singapore after undergoing a spinal procedure.

In a separate post about her father’s recovery, Ruffa shared her gratitude and reflected on making the most of time with loved ones. “Age is just a number—hangga’t kaya pa natin, let’s keep living, loving, and enjoying life,” she wrote.
