Ruffa Gutierrez has been the subject of rumors for the past months as netizens continue to speculate a romance blooming between the actress and actor-politician, Herbert Bautista, following their closeness as seen on social media.
Now, Ruffa has come forward to clarify the state of their relationship during a guesting on “Magandang Buhay” last week.
Answering the questions of the “Magandang Buhay” hosts Jolina Magdangal, Melai Cantiveros, and Regine Velasquez, Ruffa outright admitted that it was all platonic between her and her unnamed “special someone” as they are currently prioritizing their own lives and careers at the moment.

“To answer your question, walang ganap. Kasi kung saan-saan umiikot,” Ruffa told them. “I think ang masasabi ko now, platonic siya. Para siyang mentor ko. … Parang mentor lang ang peg. Ako ‘yung estudyante slash experiment.”
Regine then asked Ruffa if there was a chance that the two would be open to taking their friendship to the next level eventually.
“I think at this point, wala pa kami doon. It’s more of like he’s busy achieving his goals, I’m busy achieving mine and one day, kung matutugma ‘yun, why not?” Ruffa said.
The 47-year-old actress then shared that her mom, Annabelle Rama, actually approves of the man because she felt that there was no pressure from him. “Sabi ni Mommy, gusto niya, kasi nga walang pressure, hindi lumalabas. Gustong-gusto ni Mommy kasi silang dalawa parang magkakampi na sa bahay lang ako nag-aaral, hindi naglalakwatsa…”
Though none of them mentioned Herbert’s name as the alleged “special someone,” they dropped hints that it was him they were referring to when they described him as someone running for a government position. It is known that Herbert is currently running for the Senate in the May Elections.
Ruffa and Herbert were costars in the television series “The House Arrest of Us” as Kathryn Bernardo’s parents. What further fueled the rumors that they were dating was when fans spotted Herbert spending time with Ruffa’s family during Christmas.
