Alfy Yan is stepping into the world of show business, following in the footsteps of his late uncle, Rico Yan.
Viva Artists Agency officially welcomed Alfy during a press conference on December 10. The talent agency shared photos from the event, graced by Ricoโs ex-girlfriend and former love team partner, Claudine Barretto, who showed her unwavering support for Alfy.
“Welcome to VAA family, Alfy. We’re looking forward to a lot of exciting projects together!” the post read.
Prior to that, Claudine excitedly announced that Alfy would be entering showbiz, calling it the “best Christmas gift” for fans of her love team with Rico.

During the press conference, she revealed that she encouraged Alfy to join showbiz and introduced him to Viva Entertainment’s founder and CEO, Vic del Rosario, hoping to continue Rico’s legacy in the entertainment industry.
“Ang daming nangungulila talaga sa pagkawala ni Rico, and everybody has been rooting for Alfy, matagal na matagal na. You know, sabi ko nga kay Geraldine and sa daddy niya, si Francis, thank you because noong pumayag sila, parang nabuhayan ng loob ang RYCB, Rico-Claudine fans, Rico Yan fans, even yung lola niya [A lot of people are really grieving the loss of Rico, and everybody has been rooting for Alfy, for a long, long time. You know, I did say to Geraldine and her daddy, Francis, thank you because when they agreed, the RYCB, Rico-Claudine fans, Rico Yan fans, even her grandmother seemed to cheer up],” she said.
Alfy emphasized that he would focus on endorsements and commercials for now, as he is prioritizing his studies. He also shared how his family has been supportive of everything he wishes to pursue.
“They have been supportive throughout my entire life on anything that I’ve done, whether it be school, sports, and even this. I think they’ve been really supportive of my decisions and always try to help me,” he stated.
Alfy is the son of Rico’s sister, Geraldine Yan-Tueres. He is 19 years old and is currently studying at Ateneo de Manila University. In addition to his studies, he is an active member of the university’s baseball team. As of writing, his upcoming projects have yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, Rico passed away at the age of 27 in March 2002 due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis, resulting in cardiac arrest. He starred in hit films โGot 2 Believe,โ โFlames: The Movie,โ and โDahil Mahal na Mahal Kita.โ
