Claudine Barretto time and time again makes it known to all fans and followers that not a day passes when she doesn’t remember her ex-lover, the late Rico Yan — from commemorating his birthdays and death anniversaries, to posting old photos they took together, to sharing items of Rico’s that she has kept through the years.
On Instagram on Tuesday night, November 16, Claudine showed to all an old love letter she had uncovered which appeared to have been written back in September 1998 at the time when their relationship had just begun.
The letter reads: “Hunny, just wanted you to know that you are the best thing that has happened in my life. You are my life! While I watch you sleep, I can’t believe [you’re] mine. Thank you for being my rock! And hunny, ‘you rock.’ I love you very much.”
In the caption, Claudine revealed that this letter was addressed to her by Rico. “Double infinity. RYCB [and] Claudinians, this is for all of [you],” she wrote.
Several celebrity friends gushed over the letter and expressed how much they miss the late actor who had passed away in his sleep due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis on March 29, 2002, at 27 years old.
Some netizens, however, took to the comments to scrutinize the authenticity of the note, asking Claudine if she was the one who wrote it. Claudine denied these claims and assured all that she has “Assumption Penmanship.”

Claudine and Rico became love team partners in the late 1990s and eventually became a real-life couple. They starred in many hit romance movies like “Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita” and “Got 2 Believe” as well as television shows “Mula Sa Puso” and “Saan Ka Man Naroroon.”
