Rhap Salazar Singing Sam Smith’s “Too Good at Goodbyes” is so Good!

Rhap Salazar Sam Smith

We all know Sam Smith as a terrific songwriter who can write painfully beautiful songs like โ€œStay With Me.โ€ After a two year absence, the singer is back with โ€œToo Good at Goodbyesโ€ and it reminds us of what we love about Smith. Now, one of our local talents has covered the song and it’s so good!

Watch Rhap Salazar sing the beautiful song below:

The song is about a man who is getting used to his failing relationship. Part of the lyrics go, โ€œAnd every time you hurt me, the less that I cry / And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry / And every time you walk out, the less I love you / Baby, we donโ€™t stand a chance, itโ€™s sad but itโ€™s true.โ€

Smith truly shines in the refrain, which goes โ€œIโ€™m never gonna let you close to me / Even though you mean the most to me / โ€˜Cause every time I open up, it hurts / So Iโ€™m never gonna get too close to you / Even when I mean the most to you / In case you go and leave me in the dirt.โ€

Smith released his debut albumย In the Lonely Hourย in 2014, which had the singles โ€œMoney on My Mind,โ€ โ€œStay With Me,โ€ โ€œIโ€™m Not the Only One,โ€ โ€œLike I Can,โ€ and โ€Lay Me Down.โ€ The following year, he won four out of his six Grammy nominations.

In 2015, he sang โ€œWritingโ€™s on the Wall,โ€ which was the theme song of the James Bond filmย Spectre. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
