We all know Sam Smith as a terrific songwriter who can write painfully beautiful songs like โStay With Me.โ After a two year absence, the singer is back with โToo Good at Goodbyesโ and it reminds us of what we love about Smith. Now, one of our local talents has covered the song and it’s so good!
Watch Rhap Salazar sing the beautiful song below:
The song is about a man who is getting used to his failing relationship. Part of the lyrics go, โAnd every time you hurt me, the less that I cry / And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry / And every time you walk out, the less I love you / Baby, we donโt stand a chance, itโs sad but itโs true.โ
Smith truly shines in the refrain, which goes โIโm never gonna let you close to me / Even though you mean the most to me / โCause every time I open up, it hurts / So Iโm never gonna get too close to you / Even when I mean the most to you / In case you go and leave me in the dirt.โ
Smith released his debut albumย In the Lonely Hourย in 2014, which had the singles โMoney on My Mind,โ โStay With Me,โ โIโm Not the Only One,โ โLike I Can,โ and โLay Me Down.โ The following year, he won four out of his six Grammy nominations.
In 2015, he sang โWritingโs on the Wall,โ which was the theme song of the James Bond filmย Spectre. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
