Rare historical artifacts, including a 19th-century photograph of Dr. Jose Rizal and a high-value gold coin, will be the centerpieces of the Minted MNL 2026 Summer Show this March. The event, titled “Where Stories Bloom,” will bring together collectors and history enthusiasts to view some of the most significant items in Philippine history.

The highlight of the auction is an original vintage photograph of Dr. Jose Rizal from the 1890s. Authentic prints of the National Hero are extremely rare due to the country’s humid climate and the destruction of past wars. This specific portrait shows Rizal in his iconic European overcoat, representing a key moment in the Filipino struggle for equality. Collectors also have a chance to bid on Malolos Republic jewelry from 1899, which includes coat buttons and cufflinks worn by the leaders of Asia’s first constitutional republic.

For coin collectors, the show features the “Crown Jewel of Philippine Numismatics,” the 1906-S Silver Peso. Most of these coins were melted down over a century ago, making the survivors highly valuable. Another major item is the 1975 Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos 5000 Piso Gold Coin. Struck by the Franklin Mint, this heavy gold piece is estimated to be worth between $10,000 and $15,000.

Beyond the high-stakes auction, Minted MNL has designed the event to be a family-friendly gathering. The show includes educational talks on how to preserve antiques, painting workshops, and activities for children. Visitors can also bring their own items to the Manila Submission Center for professional grading and authentication by global experts.
Founded in 2016 by Sigrid Clarin Carandang, Minted MNL has become the largest company for coin and paper money collectors in the Philippines. This year’s Summer Show aims to move beyond simple buying and selling, focusing instead on the stories and heritage behind every collectible.
