“Man-Doll” Martivo vs Trabajador Tres

Tres, who is part of a long line of Trabajadors in PWR, made his PWR main roster debut at PWR Live: The Shadown. His opponent for the night was a fellow PWR newcomer known as the “Man-Doll” Martivo. Martivo, who was wearing his ‘pak’ ‘ganern!’ ring attire, drew a lot of love from the crowd. The PWR faithful showered him with “Let’s go tita” and “Pak!-Ganern!” chants throughout the match. The two competitors started off the match with a nice sequence of chain wrestling that captivated the audience. Tres would deliver a big boot to the face of Martivo to take him down. Tres would punish Martivo with some swift kicks to the body.

Martivo started to fight back with a knee drop. Martivo locked Tres with a painful looking Texas Cloverleaf but Tres reached the ropes to break the hold. Tres started to fight back but he eat boot after the frog splash attempt. Martivo won the match with a unique looking sit-out drop move he called the “Grabi-Tey”.

Crystal Speaks Out

Crystal came to ringside with a contract and addressed her thoughts on Scarlett’s recent departure from PWR. She wasn’t happy nor angry at Scarlett, but she was more disappointed since both of them were supposed to carry the PWR Women’s Division. She also said she wanted to show Scarlett that she was ‘worth it’. She ended that she had a bigger impact in the past few months than Scarlett did in the last 2 years, and that she will put everything into making the PWR Women’s Division a reality. The Royal Flush came out to ringside and interrupts Crystal’s in-ring time.

John Sebastian said that the reason Scarlett left PWR was because of “socially awkward virgins in the PWR crowd.” Sebastian looked at Crystal’s direction and told her that the Royal Flush is open for a new Queen, now that Scarlett was out of the picture. Rederick Mahaba barged into the ringside area to say that there’s a woman in the ring, and she’s single, and that was kinda his “thing”. Rederick completely had the quote of the night when he said to Crystal, “I’m not a good guy. I’m not a bad guy. But Crystal, we’re bagay!” That line drew a lot of laughs and cheers from the PWR Revo-Nation at ringside. Both Rederick and the Royal Flush, however, didn’t like Crystal’s response as she said that she won’t be the new Queen and she’ll just stay as Rederick’s best friend.

While Rederick took it well, the Flush did not. Peter Versoza assaulted Mahaba while John Sebastian dastardly attacked Crystal with his stick. With both Rederick and Crystal laid out on the ringside, John Sebastian grabbed the contract and passed it on to Main Maxx. Maxx signed the contract, which put in effect that at PWR Renaissance, it will be Crystal vs the PHX Champion, Main Maxx!!! pwr-live-the-shawdown-results-panzerPanzer is ready to fight!

#1 Contendership for the PWR Championship: John Sebastian vs Chris Panzer

John Sebastian and Chris Panzer were already in the ring to start this match off, until PWR Ring Announcer Poch Estrada said that there would be a THIRD competitor for tonight’s match.

#1 Contendership for the PWR Championship: John Sebastian vs Chris Panzer vs The Apocalypse

PWR’s masked monster, the Apocalypse was put into the #1 contendership match and proved to be a huge threat to both Panzer and Sebastian. That said, Chris Panzer and John Sebastian attacked Apocalypse. The masked man, however, was too powerful to stop and dominated the matchup early on. Panzer and Sebastian eventually won over by proxy of the numbers game and Apocalypse was tossed out of the ring after taking a DDT and a dropkick from John Sebastian. Panzer and Sebastian fought it out in the ring while Apocalypse was out of the picture. Panzer caught Sebastian with a Thez press and hammered away on his opponent. Panzer delivered a powerful spinebuster on Sebastian and got a 2 count.

Apocalypse returned to the ring and drove Panzer to the mat with a powerful sidewalk slam. Apocalypse would go to John Sebastian and started to punish him with a vicious assault that targeted Sebastian’s arm. Apocalypse, with Sebastian’s arm in his grasps, rose to the top rope and delivered his version of the Undertaker’s ‘Old School’ maneuver for the count of 2. Panzer and Apocalypse started to fight inside the ring. Chris Panzer delivered a powerful clothesline to take the bigger man down. Panzer connected with the leg drop and proceeded to lock in the Sharpshooter.

While Apocalypse was locked in Panzer’s submission hold, John Sebastian snuck in and locked in the Crippler Crossface on the masked man. Eventually, Apocalypse fought out of the holds and tried to get back into the match. At one point, John Sebastian sent both men to separate corners before he rammed Apocalypse face first onto Chris Panzer’s crotch area…TWICE! Chris Panzer would get some revenge soon as he delivered two DDTs on John Sebastian for a 2 count.

All three would proceed to have a melee at the ringside area and even brawled through the crowd. Chris Panzer caught an incoming Apocalypse and launched him over the ropes to deliver a dive on John Sebastian and some PWR ring crew on the outside. The fans went into a “Holy S***!” chant after Panzer laid out the other competitors and the PWR ring crew with his famous El Guerrero Frog Splash.  On the outside, Apocalypse recovered and dominated both Panzer and Sebastian by using the steel tray. Panzer assaulted Apocalypse with a steel chair while Sebastian used his stick to join in on the beat down.  Both Panzer and Sebastian dragged Apocalypse to the walkway. The two teamed up to deliver a powebomb on the masked competitor onto the steel walkway.

With Apocalypse temporarily incapacitated, Sebastian and Panzer returned to the ring to resume their fight.  Sebastian trashed Panzer with his signature suplex and was ready to deliver his knee drop, but Apocalypse re-entered the ring. Sebastian caught Apocalypse and delivered the FU on the masked enemy, who landed on top of Chris Panzer. The finish saw Apocalypse narrowly avoiding Chris Panzer’s finish and caught him with a hard kick. Apocalypse sent Chris Panzer down with a curb stomp, only to be on the receiving end of Sebastian’s Killshot.

Sebastian rolled Apocalypse out of the ring before he pinned Panzer 1-2-3. John Sebastian outlasted Panzer and Apocalypse to win the grueling three-way match and be the new number one contender to JDL’s PWR Title. At the end of the match, an enraged Apocalypse attacked Chris Panzer with the death bell before leaving ringside.

Champion vs Champion Match: PWR Champion Jake De Leon © vs PHX Champion Main Maxx ©

The main event saw PWR’s two champions face each other in a very competitive match from the start. JDL and Main Maxx put on a great display of chain wrestling at the early going that featured an exchange of holds, and an avoidance of each other’s respective signature moves (the splashes, the corner attacks, etc.) that really had the Revo-nation at the edge of their seats. Jake De Leon performed a well-executed cartwheel from the apron to the outside to avoid Main Maxx’s attack before he slammed the bigger competitor to the ring post. JDL delivered the hampas lupa on Main Maxx before he pinned him for a 2-count. Main Maxx managed to block one of JDL’s attacks and countered with a powerful bodyslam for 2.  Main Maxx would deliver a punishing stomach breaker on JDL before he attempted yet another pin.

The Perfect 10 of the Royal Flush put on a relentless assault as he delivered three straight overhead waist-lock suplexes on his opponent before he pinned JDL yet again. JDL’s resilience made him get a shoulder up at 2. Main Maxx would try to finish things off with a splash, but it also garnered a two count. A frustrated Main Maxx dragged JDL to the outside where he delivered a painful back suplex onto the ring apron.

pwr-live-the-shawdown-results-main-event-4JDL going for the Alipin Drop!

Main Maxx pulled the action back into the ring as he delivered a vertical suplex into a guillotine choke on the PWR Champion. JDL started to fight back and deliver a hard superkick to his opponent, who would also send JDL to the mat with a big boot to the face. Both men get to their feet and start to have an exchange of forearm smashes and chest chops.JDL eventually won out with some hard clotheslines on the corner. JDL delivered a bodyslam on Main Maxx and would follow up with the payroll for the 2 count. Main Maxx bought his time and caught JDL with his knees after the latter attempted to do his patented splash from the top rope. Maxx slammed JDL to the mat before attempting to make him submit to his Maxximum Mutilation hold. Main Maxx converted his hold into a bridging pin but only got a 2 count. JDL took down Main Maxx with a powerful lariat and was looking to deliver his finisher.

However, Main Maxx tried to finish JDL off with his Royal Flush mate’s finishing moves, but failing as JDL kept avoiding said moves (The Killshot, Petegree, and Royal Flushdown). Eventually, Main Maxx caught JDL and slammed him with his Blitzkreig for the pin, but JDL managed to get to the ropes before 3 to break the pinfall. Main Maxx left the ring to collect both PWR belts. He re-entered the ring to distract the referee with one of the belts before he tried to attack JDL with the remaining one. JDL avoided the belt shot and caught Maxx with the Alipin Drop!

pwr-live-the-shawdown-results-main-event-endSebastian taunts the fallen champion

Before JDL could get the victory, however, the Royal Flush entered the ring to attack him. The match ended in a no contest as Sebastian and Versoza continued their assault on JDL. With JDL laid out, John Sebastian grabbed the microphone and reminded JDL that in Renaissance, he’s getting John Sebastian for the title match. Sebastian grabbed the PWR title belt and momentarily posed with it before he went on to punish JDL with a con-chair-to. John Sebastian propped a chair on the fallen JDL and sat down on said chair to end the event. If this is a picture of things to come in Renaissance, PWR should get ready for a new PWR World Champion in John Sebastian.

pwr-live-the-shawdown-results-con-chair-toSebastian delivers a painful con-chair-to to the PWR Champ!

At the end of the day, PWR Live: The Shawdown exceeded my expectations. Going into the event, I thought it would just be a PWR Live event that won’t be as big as PWR’s main shows such as Renaissance or Wrevolution X. However, this night had that big show vibe from start to finish. The venue was good, the overall performance of the roster was great, and everything was in the right places at the right time. We got to see the crop of new PWR talent and they did not disappoint. What I liked was how the Mahabang Usapan segment rolled with the punches. While it was a long segment, it was one of the best talk show segments in PWR to date. Rederick Mahaba, the host of Mahabang Usapan, was the night’s MVP in terms of mic work. Props to the folks at PWR for sending the action very near my house. That aside, we really would like to congratulate the men and women of PWR for putting up one of the best PWR Live events so far. This was the perfect event to hype up one of PWR’s big events, PWR: Renaissance.
