Precious Lara Quigaman Embraces Natural Gray Hair, Inspires Women to Break Ageist Beauty Standards

In a world where beauty is often tied to youth, many people dread watching their appearances change—especially as their hair begins to lose its color. But former actress and beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman is taking a different path, choosing to embrace her natural gray hair after years of constantly dyeing it.

Reflecting on her journey toward letting her natural hair grow out, Quigaman admitted it was far from easy and that she was often tempted to color it again.

“And honestly, the first few weeks, the first months [were] the hardest kasi that’s when you really see the line, the difference between the white and your dark hair, and honestly, I’ve questioned my decision,” the 2005 Miss International titleholder shared. “Ngayon mas mahaba na ‘yong aking white hair and I like it, and my children love it, my husband loves it.”

Sharing how the experience influenced her perspective on self-acceptance, Quigaman noted that growing out her gray hair required a great deal of faith in God—believing that even if something feels difficult or looks unfavorable at first, it will become better over time.

“I think it’s the same with faith too. When you’re trusting God about something, the first maybe few moments, the first few times, feel like you don’t see any result—it doesn’t look good, it feels so hard, it feels so challenging,” the 43-year-old former actress said. “But let that be a reminder for us that God makes everything beautiful in its time, and we just need to trust God even though we don’t see anything.”

Her post, which has now amassed over 13 million views on Facebook, has served as an inspiration for others to embrace their own graying hair.

“Baka kailangan ko na talagang i-embrace kung ano ang meron ako. Totoo rin, nakakapagod na ring laging magpakulay ng buhok. Thank you for reminding me that confidence doesn’t come from the color of our hair, but from how we choose to embrace ourselves. God bless! Thank you for sharing this,” one user commented.

Even long after her reign as a beauty queen, Quigaman continues to empower others. She proudly flaunted her natural gray hair at the Binibining Pilipinas 2026 Grand Coronation Night on July 18, 2026, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, where she served as one of the judges.

In the comments section of one of her Instagram posts from the event, a fan highlighted how empowering her journey has been: “I’m 36 and may kaunting gray hair na, but when I saw your post, I’m not ashamed na about it.”

Quigaman first revealed her gray-hair journey on social media on May 13, 2026, saying she was tired of hiding her silver locks.

“I’m finally letting go of ‘perfection’ and embracing my God-given white hair that comes not just with age, but with genetics too,” Quigaman wrote. “So call me lola or grandma, it’s okay. I’m going to try and rock this white hair.”
