Poblacion’s Hot Spot: Long Time Ago Chinese Restaurant

For the main dishes, we ordered the Sour and Hot Chicken Stomach, Big Pot of Cauliflower, Shredded Beef with Green Pepper, Fish Fillet in Hot Chili Sauce and Long Time Ago Fried Rice.

We basically loved all of the dishes – none of them were absent in flavors and all were generally spicy, but our group’s favorite dishes were the cauliflower dish and their signature fried rice.

Big Pot of Cauliflower – Php320

My husband is not even into vegetables, but he loved the cauliflower dish and ate it all, making sure it was finished down to the last piece of onion and the last drop of sauce. The dishes serve 3-5 people, depending on your appetite.

Long Time Ago Fried Rice – Php280

The fried rice is light and fluffy; it is a good way to temper the spiciness of the dishes. It isn’t rich in flavor, but it isn’t dull, either. It has just the right amount of saltiness.

Sour and Hot Chicken Stomach – Php320

The sour and hot chicken stomach is a close second to our top favorites. This is the spiciest of all of the dishes, but its unique texture invites you to keep having more.

Golden Mushroom – Php128

This is one of the dishes from the grill that was last served. When our server recommended golden mushrooms, we all thought it would be mushrooms on a stick, but this is their interpretation of the dish. They are shredded into fine strips and covered with spices. Its taste is a good transition to another dish because it’s not strong.

Grilled fish with special sauce – Php1,280

The last dish to be served, the grilled fish fillet, is the perfect dish to cap the night off. It turns out it’s their signature dish. Coming off from two strongly flavored ones; the fish fillet, although still mildly spicy, feels light on the stomach and is so tender that it takes little effort to eat it. The sauce that the fish comes with is also a good addition to the rice.
