Having spawned in Boston, Pixies—currently composed of Black Francis, Joey Santiago, David Lovering, and bassist Emma Richardson—have gone on to become one of alternative music’s greatest and most pioneering bands, remaining unmistakably distinctive in voice. Their immediately recognizable sound continues to influence new generations of musicians four decades on.
Decades later, the reunion reaffirmed the band’s reputation as a live act. If anything, their performances had only grown sharper—uniting multiple generations of fans from different backgrounds, all coming together to embrace Pixies’ genre-defining sets: those who were there from the beginning during the late 80s and early 90s, those who never had the chance to see the band for the first time around, and those who weren’t even born at that time.
