Philippines Named as One of the Most Racist Countries in the World
Recent data from the World Value Survey shows that the Philippines is one of the most racist countries in the world.
This survey basically asked people what kinds of people they wouldn’t want to live near and then counted the amount of people who chose ‘people of a different race’ for each country. Apparently, societies, in which people wouldn’t want to live near other races are considered to be more racially intolerant.
Philippines Named as One of the Most Racist Countries in the World
The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Jordan and India in the top five.
While the country with the most racially intolerant people is Jordan, with 51.4% not wanting to live near another race, India is close behind with 43.5%. The Philippines lies in the 20 to 29.9% bracket along with other countries like Thailand, France, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Hong Kong; only below counties such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea in the 30-39.% bracket.
The most racially tolerant countries are mostly Western countries, such as Britain, Canada, Australia and the U.S. In fact, only 3.8% of U.S. residents are reluctant to live near another race.
What are your thoughts on this? Are we Filipinos really that racist?

Funny. Just last year some people release a similar survey showing completely otherwise. LOL. It’s all about the methodology. Just look at their basis. Percentage of people who answered a question. It’s all about what the question is and how you compose it.
In fact, you can draw several conclusions from the data. The most accurate is those people are just more comfortable with neighbors of the same race. But that does not necessarily mean they can’t live with people of another race.
The Philippines shading is 20-29% still high but -10% is a big thing on statistics, compare India, Vietnam and Philippines.
My teacher told me that everyone is racist deep down inside. It’s only a matter of how racist you are. Even the most racially tolerant people will have some instances of dislike or disgust towards other races at times. Peace
Ummm survey is bullshit .. and words are meaningless.. because I know for a fact Philippines is already one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Asia.. Filipinos themselves mostly being mestizo of Spanish, indigenous, Chinese blood and being a US colony from 1898 to 1946. This is reflected in their food and culture.. I’m Korean American, and there is loads more blatant racism in the US and other countries I’ve been to. There is no institutionalized racism to keep minorities down, a need for a civil rights movement, Jim Crow laws etc.. There is actually more self hatred from colonialism.. be proud kabayan! Mabuhay!
Mr. Author, I am disappointed in the title and the content of your article. Firstly, if you will look closely, the Philippines is bracketed in the 20-29% not 30-39% (mag iinterpret ka na lang ng data, mali pa). Secondly, the original article where you based your article indicated that less than half of the countries in the world were surveyed (only 81 of the 196 countries. ahh kaya pala gray ang kulay ng ibang countries. hindi mo ba napansin yon?). So how could you say that “Philippines is one of the most racist countries in the world” if the data is incomplete? )
