What do you think happens when in Manila, the best players of today’s generation compete with the best cagers in PBA history?
As part of the PBA All- Star Weekend, the Philippine Basketball Association held a game between The Greats and The Stalwarts last April 4, 2014. The Greats headed by Coach Atoy Co battled with The Stalwarts headed by Coach Bogs Adornado at the Mall of Asia Arena after an equally exciting Obstacle Challenge, Slam Dunk Contest and three-point shootout.
The young cagers weren’t forgiving at all to the retired legends and neither did the legends shy away from proving why they’re called as such. It was raining dunks from Slam Dunk co-champions Rey Guevarra and Justin Melton, as well as three-point shots from the former PBA Stars Noli Locsin and Johnedel Cardel that night.
The first half of the game ended at 57-57 showing how tight the competition was. On the last 19.5 seconds of the game, Ronjay Buenafe made a three- point shot ending the competition in a 136-all tie.
Slam Dunk Champion Rey Guevarra of The Greats was named as the Most Valuable Player of the game after scoring 34 points.
