The Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Giovanni Lopez announced that a portion of the EDSA Busway, particularly from NEPA Q-Mart to Boni station, will temporarily open to private vehicles amid the ongoing EDSA road rehabilitation.

In an ambush interview on November 2, 2026, DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said that the temporary arrangement for the southbound section of the EDSA Busway is expected to last around two weeks, until the rehabilitation from NEPA Q-Mart to Boni station is completed.
“So today, right after natin—siguro mga 4:30 AM, bago mag-alas singko bubuksan na ito mula ng Nepa Q-Mart hanggang dito kung nasaan tayo ngayon, mga bandang Boni,” Dizon said.
(“So today, right after we—maybe around 4:30 AM, before 5:00 AM—this will be opened from Nepa Q-Mart up to where we are right now, around the Boni area.”)
He also explained the asphalt resurfacing process needed for a particular portion of the EDSA Busway.
“Pagkatapos ng reblocking, i-aspalto pa ito para makinis. Pero kahit na ‘yung mga barrier, pinaurong, kagaya noong ginawa dati ni Sec. Banoy at DPWH nu’ng bago kami nagpalit, sa bandang Monumento, io-open namin ‘yung busway sa private vehicles,” the Transport Secretary said.
(“After the reblocking, it will still be asphalted to make it smooth. But even the barriers were moved back—just like what Sec. Banoy and DPWH did before we transitioned, near the Monumento area—we will open the busway to private vehicles”)
Once the roadworks are completed, the opened portion of the EDSA Busway will return to its original purpose: only EDSA Carousel buses are allowed to use the lane.
DPWH on C-5 rehabilitation: To begin in the last week of November
Meanwhile, DPWH Secretary Giovanni Lopez has announced recently that the rehabilitation of Circumferential Road (C-5) will begin around the last week of November 2026.
“Based on our meetings with the DPWH-NCR, itong November po, mga last week ng November, magsisimula na po ang ating sinasabing C-5 rehabilitation. Parang po ‘yung ginawa nila Secretary Vince doon sa EDSA rehab,” Lopez said on November 3, 2026.
(“Based on our meetings with the DPWH-NCR, the C-5 rehabilitation will start this November, around the last week of November. It’s kind of like what Secretary Vince did with the EDSA rehab.”)
He added that post-qualification bidding for the C-5 rehabilitation project is ongoing and, not considering any supervening events, the agency can give the notice of award by November 18.
After a week, if no problems are encountered in the procurement process, Lopez said that they can also give the notice to proceed with the road rehabilitation.
The DPWH secretary also expressed the urgency of road rehabilitation for C-5 because of its current condition. “Grabe rin ang problema rito sa C-5, ‘yung mga kalsada dito babako-bako, aalon-alon, ganun, hindi lang napapansin masyado kasi nakatutok tayo sa EDSA.”
(“The problem here on C-5 is intense too; the roads here are bumpy, wavy. It’s just that it’s not noticed much because we’re focused on EDSA.”)
