Northern Davaoeños, your next comfort food fix just got a lot closer. Papa G Dimsum House officially opened its R. Castillo branch last July 18, 2025, at the Oakridge Business Center in R.Castillo. It’s bringing its signature modern Chinese menu and warm, fuss-free vibe to the north side of the city.
For fans of Chinese food that’s comforting but not intimidating, Papa G has always hit the sweet spot. The new 50-seat branch maintains the same inviting atmosphere as its original locations, featuring clean interiors, a modern twist on classic Chinese decor, and, most importantly, dishes that are big on flavor, quality, and made with care.
What Makes Papa G Dimsum House Stand Out

Most Chinese restaurants in Davao tend to either lean ultra-traditional or overly ornate. Papa G strikes a balance with modern Chinese dining that feels fresh, familiar, and approachable.
Founded during the pandemic in 2020, Papa G Dimsum House is a family-run passion project by Arturo “Chiongkee” Uy, fondly known as Papa Gov. Drawing from his Chinese roots and culinary inspiration from his travels, he envisioned a space that made Oriental comfort food accessible to all Davaoeños.
That vision comes to life in every bite. And now, with the R. Castillo branch, it’s easier than ever to experience.

Here’s what we had and what we’d order again:
Dimsum Must-Tries
Pork Siomai – The ultimate staple, especially with Papa G’s house chili garlic oil.

Japanese Siomai, Sharksfin, Pork and Shrimp Siomai – Best ordered in a Yum Bundle for groups
Comfort Dishes
Beef Brisket Noodle Soup – Soft noodles, fork-tender beef, and a rich, umami broth
Chicken Congee – A soothing bowl of savory rice porridge
Sweet and Sour Pork Rice – Familiar flavors done right. Tangy, crisp, and satisfying
Buns and Paos You Shouldn’t Miss
Braised Pork Pao (Hongba Pao) – Juicy pork belly, crushed peanuts, and pickled vegetables in a soft cuapao bun
Hong Kong Style Asado Siopao – Sweet, savory, and pillowy soft
Custard and Lotus Buns – Simple but indulgent finishes to a hearty meal
Drinks
Ice Blended Dragonfruit – Not just sweet, but full of actual flavor. Refreshing and indulgent
Ice Blended Oreo – A fun, creamy treat for dessert lovers
So, Should You Check It Out?
If you’re from the north area or just want to try a spot that offers good food without the fuss, Papa G Dimsum House in R. Castillo is definitely worth checking out. It’s the kind of place you could keep coming back to; whether you’re craving siomai, looking for a chill barkada spot, or just want something satisfying that won’t break the bank.

Our tip? Start with the Truffle Xiao Long Bao, split a Yum Bundle with your group, and never skip the chili garlic oil. That stuff is magic.
