Only 13 Episodes Left of “Game of Thrones” Says Show Creators

Season 6 spoilers ahead. I’ve warned you.

Season 6 of hit HBO series Game of Thrones just wrapped up last June 27th but already, fans can’t wait for season 7. But the show’s creators have a rather disappointing news, though. According to co-creator David Benioff, in an interview with entertainment news site Deadline.com, the show will wrap up in 73 episodes. The past six seasons have all had 10 episodes each, which leaves us with a mere 13 episodes to watch out for. And it has already been confirmed that there are still two seasons to go for Thrones.

When asked why, Benioff responds: “Daenerys is finally coming back to Westeros, Jon Snow is king of the North and Cersei is sitting on the Iron Throne. And we know the Night King is up there, waiting for all of them.”

“The pieces are on the board now,” he continues. “Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game.”

We are indeed approaching the end game, and the masterful season 6 finale (and the entire season as well if you ask me), definitely establishes this. Events, characters, and secrets are finally unraveling, and with Daenerys’ fleet finally sailing across the Narrow Sea, there is no denying that exciting times are to come in Westerosand in our living roomswhen the show returns next year.

Game of Thrones Season 7 will run seven episodes on 2017, and six for Season 8 on 2018.
