“One Piece Film Red” Is Coming to Philippine Cinemas Soon

Great news, Pinoy otakus! “One Piece Film Red” is coming to Philippine cinemas in September!

Anime News Network reported that ODEX Philippines will be organizing a fan screening on September 17 and 18 in the Philippines. However, SM Cinema’s “One Piece Film Red” screening schedule is yet to be announced.

The latest “One Piece” film debuted in Japan on Saturday, August 6. Not even an entire week since, it has immediately earned this month’s top spot in box office rankings. Approximately $16.63 million were reportedly garnered from selling 1.57 million tickets during its opening weekend alone.

Now, Crunchyroll has decided to screen the movie in more countries following its success. Aside from the Philippines, “One Piece Film Red” will also be screened in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Directed by “Code Geass” and “One Piece: Defeat the Pirate Ganzaki”’s Goro Taniguchi, the anime movie follows the story of Uta–a famous singer with an “otherworldly” voice. As fans, the Straw Hats have gathered along with other pirates and marines to witness her first-ever live concert. However, they will soon discover that their beloved singer is none other than Shanks’ daughter!

Uta will be voiced by Kaori Nazuka, while Ado will be the character’s singing voice. One Piece Film Red’s theme song “Shinjidai” (“New Genesis”) was also performed by Ado. Listen to the full song below!
