Omakase Greenhills – A Fresh and Flavorful Sushi Experience
As a huge lover of all things sushi, Omakase Japanese Cuisine was definitely a must-try for me! When In Manila, you will find that there are several branches of Omakase, but we have frequented the Greenhills branch as it’s close to where we live and a great place to sit and enjoy good food after a busy day of shopping!
The dining area is upstairs once you enter the doors. We always sit at a booth near the windows, and depending on where you sit, you might even be able to see the sushi bar and watch them prepare your food while you wait! Omakase has a wide variety of Japanese food to order on their menu, but we were here solely for the sushi.
When my fiance and I come here, we always order at least three different maki rolls, and we make it a goal to try something new each time. We have never been anything less than impressed with whatever we have ordered, though. The ingredients always taste very fresh and the flavours blend together perfectly.
American Dream Roll (Php215)
The American Dream Roll was our new thing to try this evening, and it was a very interesting roll. The inside contains salmon, kani (crabsticks), and cream cheese, and is then deep-fried and served hot. It was very different compared to the usual raw sushi we order, and very good! The cream cheese adds a delicious flavor, and I love the way it felt – all warm and melty. We will definitely order this roll again!
Omakase Roll (Php230)
The next roll that they served us was the Omakase Roll. It contained kani and cucumber on the inside, and a slice of salmon on top. This was more similar to what I was accustomed to when ordering sushi, raw fish! You could tell just by looking at it that the salmon is super fresh. It was very flavourful, as well.
Another thing I appreciated was that it was served with minimal mayo on top, with a little dish of extra mayo on the side. I’m personally not a fan of mayo on my sushi as I feel like it drowns out the flavor too much, so this was a great way to satisfy both those who like it and those who don’t.
Deep Blue Sea Roll (Php295)
Lastly, our personal favorite: the Deep Blue Sea Roll! This roll right here is the main reason we keep coming back to Omakase. The Deep Blue Sea Roll is the perfect combination of flavor and texture with spicy tuna and tempura pieces to give it a little crunch on the inside and salmon, shrimp and shredded kani on top. Dipped in just a bit of soy sauce and wasabi, this maki roll is absolutely delightful. Once again, you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients used in this roll. Even the wasabi served here seems to be of superior quality compared to most sushi restaurants that we have eaten at.
So, although Omakase may be a bit on the pricey end, the quality of the ingredients used and the delicious food that they serve has kept us coming back here again and again. This is easily one of the best sushi restaurants to visit when in Manila!
